The green wax layer reduces water evaporation and provides mechanical protection by creating a flexible and well-adhering protective layer. Green wax is also a suitable agent for protecting grafting sites. The wax layer prevents drying out, especially the delicate area of the graft union, and supports the process of fusion, known as callusing.
