Anti-caking “tailor-made”

Anti-caking “tailor-made” 25 April 2022

Due to the diverse composition of fertilizers linked to both the main components supplying plants with nitrogen, sulphur, phosphorus and calcium, magnesium, boron, and other elements, the production of anti-caking substances is “tailor-made”.

This means that the choice of formula and the dose rate is determined on a case-by-case basis for any given type of fertiliser. This, in turn, is related to close cooperation between the company’s development department and the producers of artificial fertilizers. There are no shortcuts here. Creating a product dedicated to a given fertilizer requires numerous studies.

According to the data from the Central Statistical Office of Poland (GUS), in January-February 2022, the domestic production of mineral fertilizers amounted to 458 thousand tons (pure ingredients) and was 10.4% lower than the year before. It is estimated that in the entire first quarter of 2022, the decline in domestic production was deeper than in the first 2 months of the year and could even amount to 15%. This is the result of the constantly growing gas price, which directly increases the cost of fertilizer production. This, in turn, contributed to the reduction or complete suspension of fertilizer production by many european producers. At the same time, we are faced with the necessity to replace a nearly 40% gap in the market, which is a direct consequence of the sanctions imposed on belarusian and russian fertilizers.

We are facing new challenges, which will require not only skillful, but above all, economical useage of fertilizers – while ensuring optimal results for harvesting the highest possible yields. This means that not a single kilogram of the produced fertilizer can be wasted. This cannot be achieved without anti-caking agents, so our products must not only be even better, but also match the fertilizers that will be made of raw materials from other mining regions – with completely different physicochemical parameters. The key to success is and will be not only the work of our own laboratory, but also close cooperation with nitrogen plants.
